IPTV on the 360

You heard it from the mouth of Microsoft “Carbon” is official. Now xbox lovers can enjoy episodes of their favorite television shows from the comfort of their wireless 360 controllers. They’ve added television into the menu in your dashboard.

Yesterday was the Consumer Electronics Show CES2007 and as usual Bill Gates, or my father if you are not familiar with who he is and I showed you a picture on Messenger. You know who you are haha x. Courtesy of Major Nelson's blog you can catch up on what was said in both MP3 and WMA format.

IPTV describes a system capable of receiving and displaying a video stream encoded as a series of Internet Protocol packets. If you've ever watched a video clip on your computer, you've used an IPTV system in its broadest sense. When most people discuss IPTV, though, they're talking about watching traditional channels on your television, where people demand a smooth, high-resolution, lag-free picture, and it's the telcos that are jumping headfirst into this market.

Also announced was that the Xbox 360 has sold over 10.4 million Xbox 360 consoles in more than 37 countries. The Xbox Live community has eclipsed 5 million members, with over half of all consoles connected. Gears of War has sold more than 2.7 million copies after only 8 weeks on the market and won numerous Game of the Year awards.

Microsoft moved onto cover Zune and Vista which you can read more about whats scheduled and also connectivity on on10.net. I am going to add on10 as a feed as they are a very informative site. Haha lots of tech information and I don't want to appear too much like I have copy/pasted everything so I will provide sources below...
