Movember

Image via WikipediaNever really been one for facial hair, this month though something inside me has woken and it wants to be noticed. After going without shaving for just over a week, I have now taken a razor to my face and carefully sculpted a masterpiece. Referring to images of Josh Hartnett and Johnny Depp as a template I have now shaped a moustache and goatee. The reason behind this bold statement is to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues, such as prostate cancer and depression.

Movember (a portmanteau of the words 'Moustache' and 'November') is an annual month-long event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November. The event has been claimed to have been invented in 1999 by group of Australian men from Adelaide. [Source]

Although not raising money I wanted to participate after a few colleagues brought this to my attention in my office. So far the reaction has been muted, although my children all look at me with a look of disbelief. Least impressed so far has been my partner, she has vowed not to kiss me until I shave :)
