Problem With Twitter or Problem With Ego?!

I have wrote a lot about Twitter recently and actively use the service to follow popular trends, read breaking news and communicate with friends. Following the conversation over the last few days it's clear that although Twitter maybe the darling of social media there are flaws in the system. This may be true but doesn't a bad worker always blames their tools?

Are we really defined by the amount of people that we follow?

I personally prefer quality over quantity because that is how to build a true meaningful relationship. You scratch my back and I will scratch yours? We have only just met! Following everyone that follows us may well be courteous but auto-following means you haven't even taken the time to check their profile. If it's reached the point where your inbox is constantly full with Twitter messages then turn off email notification. Don't turn to the auto following/responses as then everything about your interaction becomes automated. Chances are you are already popular on Twitter so why ruin your reputation. I don't want to be just another face in the crowd, a number that is essentially just to reach another milestone.
