Jobseeker’s Allowance is the main benefit for people of working age who are out of work or work less than 16 hours a week on average. I'm eligible because I'm unemployed and actively seeking work. Due to an oversight, I wasn't able to sign on which meant that the claim was cancelled. I had another interview today and was eligible for a rapid-reclaim as there has been no change in circumstances. I felt irresponsible because it was avoidable. I wrote previously that I thought that visiting the dole office was a grim and belittling experience but I have been impressed with the overall customer service. Although the people claiming benefits have been questionable on occasion. Today, whilst waiting in reception, these randoms wanted to know the contents of my briefcase. They epitomised the Vicky Pollard character from the BBC television and radio series Little Britain, played by Matt Lucas. Tetanus!! On a positive note, I restarted the claim and was booked to attend a Workshop which I hope will be very beneficial. Am I going to be unemployed forever?!
